Impressed Tortoise (Manouria Impressa)

Range- Impressed tortoises are found in Southeast Asia in nations of Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Myanmar, Malaysia, and Thailand.

Habitat- The Impressed tortoise lives in mountainous regions of very thick and cool dark rain forest at very high elevations. The dense forest limit the climate to available foods that other Manouria would eat on. The very dark, very cool, dense forest areas the impressed inhabit are a very limited researched ecosystem. In relation to limited knowledge of this species natural behavior and total environment, the impressed is very liking to streams and water sources.

Diet-Bamboo shoots, alocasia, colocasia, moss, mushrooms, and carrion.

Size-Males 11-12” Females 12-14”

Conservation-Vulnerable (IUCN 2.3) CITES II. Collection for pet trade has had a huge detriment on this species. In the regions the Impressed tortoise is found is also used as a source of food, medicinal remedy, and ritualistic status. The impressed tortoises is endangered in its native lands.
