This article is substantial of why preservation and conservation of even common species of tortoises needs to be looked at. In South America this study was done on Red Footed tortoises in Brazil. The red foot eating dropped fruits and plant matter was found to disperse ficus tree seeds that were 100% fertile. Animals like this keep the ecosystems on our planet thriving regenerating and the world of ecology constantly changing in its cycle of life.
